Scythe + current skills
ok i was wondering how the sythe would fit in with some of our current skills. Will a scythe work with barrage? i know daggers will. (sharpen daggers+ barrage). Will there be vamp/zealous sythe parts? With the aoe attack of the scythe, this would make a deadly combo. It would be similar to cyclone axe. i can see a dervish using vigorus spirit plus live vicariously.

Bow Attack. All your Preparations are removed. Shoot arrows at up to 6 foes adjacent to your target. These arrows strike for +1...13 damage if they hit.

Sharpen Daggers works with Barrage, but you still need a bow.
Barrage 5 Cost 1 Recharge
Elite Bow Attack. All your preparations are removed. Shoot arrows at up to 6 foes adjacent to your target. These arrows strike for +X damage if they hit. (Attrib: Marksmanship)
Sharpen Daggers
Enchantment Spell. For 10...30 seconds, all of your critical hits cause Bleeding for 5...13 seconds.
Daggers don't work with Barrage. A/R's use Barrage with a bow using a high Critical level and Sharpen Daggers to get the cost down, similar to Expertise except you gotta crit.

You'd probably end up killing yourself trying to shoot the thing.

It depends if the skill is a weapon attack, meaning it needs a specific weapon type. Barrage is a bow attack, no it cannot be used with daggers or swords or axes or hammers. Just the same as Eviscerate will not work with a hammer. The only reason why sharpen daggers works with barrage is because its an enchantment and not a preperation. If it was a preperation it would be removed of course. Sharpen daggers does not say that the critical hits have to be with daggers meaning it will work on Swords, Daggers, Hammers, Bows, Axes, And Syches unless the skill is changed.

Things considered "Melee Attacks" do with work scythes: Wild Blow, Power Attack, Drunken/Desperation Blow, etc. Drunken/Desperation + Balanced Stance + ViM + a scythe is a pretty fun RA build I ran during the PvP weekend, and got all five of my current Glad points.

However, Soldier's Strike (melee attack from the Tactics line) does NOT work with Scythes. Of course you can use it, but the damage bonus will only apply to your target. Strange...
Smite doesn't work either, although this is labelled as an attack.

i've put a lot of thought into dervish builds lately and the scythe is a great weapon when combined with many skills due to it's AOE melee, and high dmg cap, imagine an A/D whith high points in both critical hits and scythe mastery, finally the assassin will be useful for most players that never understood that assassins were hit and run characters. or try out A/Mo and supplement you scythe attacks with smiting skills that use AOE dmg, or go necro secondary and use SS. both of those will cause massive dps. i'm sure there will be many new builds for dervish primary and secondary characters within days of the launch.
